From: Robert Aguirre, President

Greetings,

Hope everyone enjoyed their Memorial Day weekend with your friends and family. Just wanted to update you on some of the fun stuff stored for the SGV  Unit. As you know, we’re weeks away from sweltering temperatures as we get ready to condition and get in shape before the season begins. The season set to begin a week prior to the normal date, which means our first meeting date is projected to start Saturday, September 29th at TBD.

As for the SGV Team, we will be providing several offseason events to improve your skills on the court. Your Vice-President Anabell  Ramirez will be in contact with you providing these clinics during the offseason and sending out emails notifying you of the dates and times with sites where you be able to participate. (Stay tuned) These clinic/trainings will provide suggestions for growing as an official, handling conflict, being professional and securing contests. In addition, the clinics will provide officials with an overview of the particular sport, including pregame and postgame expectations, basic signaling, and penalty enforcement and application. These clinics will spend time fine-tuning your techniques and positioning, with instruction by position. It may also include a film review or critique after your game which will include “hands-on” opportunities while being observed by an observer who will provide reinforcement of positive actions a! nd feedback on areas where improvement is needed. Finally, we will also be providing 3-person games for those officials who are looking into improving their craft on the court as well.

Lastly, our next scheduled Board of Directors meeting is scheduled for July 16th. Feel free to join and sit in on a meeting and see what goes on behind the scenes. There’s a lot that is talked and planned during these meetings to better our Unit. If you are not able to attend, I encourage you to contact any of your Board of Director Office Members or continuously check the SGV  website to gather updates and information, share ideas on what you would like to see within our Unit as we plan for this new season. Till then, do not hesitate to contact me directly if you have any questions or concerns you would like to talk about.

Again, enjoy the summer and I look forward to seeing you down the road.

From: Esther Hsu, Instructor

I would love to spread the word and invite our unit to attend our camp!

This will be our 4th annual “The Camp To Get You Ready For Camp”, where we focus on teaching 3-person mechanics, networking, videotaping and video breakdown.

We will also have several collegiate coordinators in attendance, so hopefully, this will be a great opportunity for the SGV unit officials to get their names and faces out there in front of these assignors if they’re interested in working college basketball.

campers can visit our website, www.thefoundationofficialscamp.com for registration and more information.

Thanks so much
